The Weight of 6 Eggs in Sugar

Before measurements were standardized in recipes, common approximations were used and widely accepted.  For instance, “the weight of 6 eggs in sugar” or “butter big as an egg”.  It reminded me of the manner in how I measure certain processes like paint color mixing or gel medium dilution in the studio.  “A couple blobs of oxide green with a whole bunch of titanium white” or “a squirt of water from the water bottle into the gel medium”.  Eventually, standardized measurements were normalized creating a new norm, similar to how my new and more regimented norm has unfolded and become status quo in this pandemic.

1 cup of hot water with lemon

1 cup of matcha latte

3 potty walks with my dog Baloo

1 scent walk with Baloo, can be substituted with the dog park

2 fried eggs, can be substituted with avocado toast or croissant occasionally

3-5 hugs and kisses for the hubby

2 45 minute subway commutes to and from the art studio located in the Bronx

4-5 hours in the art studio

1 decaf espresso with oat milk 

1 lunch brought from home or bought from store

1 hour Pilates workout

30-50 minutes of social media

1 hour catching up with friends and or family

1-1.5 hours for dinner prep, can be substituted with takeout

30 minutes for dinner with hubby

1 hour of reading, can be substituted with 3-4 hours of tv marathon if there’s a good show

1.  After having 8-9 hours of sleep the night before, add 1 potty walk with my dog, Baloo IMMEDIATELY.  Pick up poop and dispose.
2. Throw in a cup of hot water with lemon followed by a cup of matcha latte, and depending on time constraints, add 2 fried eggs or avocado toast or croissant.  Sometimes, why not add them all up if you’re hungry as hell.
3. Try to stir in one meditation and journal entry, either morning or evening, though morning preferred, followed by some sprinkles of hugs and kisses for the hubby and a scent walk with Baloo on the way to the subway.  
4. Take one of the 45 minute commutes to the art studio, add in 4-5 hours in the art studio, where you mix in 1 decaf espresso with oatmilk, 1 lunch, another Baloo potty walk, and a lot of satisfying hard work.  Add in another 45 minute commute back home.
5. Sprinkle in the last 6 ingredients as desired at the end of the day and don’t forget that last potty walk.
6. Enjoy, be grateful, and rinse and repeat.
